A Little Bit About Us

The Gums at Memerambi is a 68 hectare working rural property in the South Burnett Region of South East Queensland.

The property name derives from the 22 hectares of forestry plantation hardwood Spotted Gum, (planted in 2001), which now border the driveway as you make your way to the main homestead.

Owners Christiene and Arthur Nettelfield have developed The Gums facilities to enable them to provide a diverse range of rural services including horse spelling, cattle agistment, forestry plantation and irrigation installation services. The peaceful, well equipped property is the ideal place for animals to rest and attune with nature, whilst being lovingly cared for.

They love to share their idyllic property with others too. They’ve put a lot of time, love and investment into developing the gardens, facilities and services so country lovers can host their weddings, private functions and tours at The Gums.

Arthur Nettelfield is a locally renowned entertainer and is regularly booked to entertain at functions held at The Gums and throughout the South Burnett Region. Whilst strumming his favourite guitar, he amuses and enthralls his audiences with his beautiful voice and witty repartee.

How it All Evolved

The Garden saw its first planting in 2004 and now extends over one hectare of the property. What started as a project to reclaim a (rather large) section of scarified hill grew to include hundreds of roses and other plant varieties, numerous formal hedges, stairways, pathways, rock walls, archways and much more.

The Gardens were opened to the public for the first Annual Garden Open Day in October 2007. Weddings commenced at The Gums in March 2008

As we say,

“You have horses, you have manure.”

“You have manure, you have gardens.”

“You have gardens, you have roses.”

“You have roses, you have weddings!!”
